Symptom(s):
Black border seen in low screen resolutions on laptop screen.
Solution:
The black border exists when there is no panel fitting. Check with your laptop manufacturer to see if this feature that is enabled in their system BIOS or if there is a utility update or hot key to enable this feature. Sony VAIO* laptop users should update to the latest utility software from Sony*, which enables use of the FN+F keys combination to enable panel fitting.
There is no graphics driver support to enable or disable panel fitting. Panel fitting on Intel® 815EM chipsets is not supported when simultaneously displaying to a CRT monitor and the LCD screen due to architectural limitations. So, even on systems with panel fitting, simultaneous modes smaller than the panel size will still see a black border.
