Symptom(s):
Windows* 98 SE does not recognize .msi file extension
Solution:
The Intel® Processor Frequency ID Utility, version 6.0 and above, requires the Microsoft* Installer application for installation. The .msi file extension is automatically recognized by later generations of the Microsoft operating systems. Windows* 98 SE, however, will require the installation of a patch from the Microsoft website before the .msi file extension will be recognized.
The Microsoft Installer patch for the Windows 98 SE operating system is available on the Microsoft website.
